Bumrah was ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Championship on Thursday because of a stress fracture in his back.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee appointed Mohd. Siraj to replace the injured Jasprit Bumrah for the remainder of the T20I series vs South Africa‘ BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said in Friday’s statement.
“Bumrah has sustained a back injury and is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team.”
Siraj, 28, a right-arm pacer, has played in five T20Is so far, taking five wickets from them. His last T20I game was against Sri Lanka in Dharamsala in February this year.

India lead the three-game T20I series 1-0 against South Africa after clinching an all-out eight-wicket win in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. The second and third matches will be played in Guwahati (October 2nd) and Indore (October 4th).
